About Mrs. Tanner

My name is Leslie Tanner and I am one of the sixth grade language arts teachers at Homewood Middle School. I have been teaching at HMS for nineteen years.  I coached the 7th and 8th grade cheerleading squads for 13 years, but have recently started the first dance team at the middle school.  I also help new teachers to HMS as an instructional coach.  I am a graduate of the University of Alabama, where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education, as well as my Masters of Education in elementary education. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. I love teaching sixth graders and how no two days in middle school are ever the same!  Reading is a passion of mine and I love giving book recommendations to my students to help them find the "just right" book to read!
